Summer Art Camp

Where Creativity & Learning Meet!


Enjoy knowing that your Creative Teen will be introduced to new artistic experiences & people! Listed below is the tentative schedule for the six-week  Summer Art Camp. If changes occur, they will be minor.


Summer Art Camp is designed for serious creative teenagers that want to learn & experience different mediums of Art. This is not a “Find my teen something to do this summer” type of camp. The right participant for this camp should already be immersed in Art & their own creativity!

Camp Cost

$75 a week. This cost covers the listed days and times of the camp. This cost also covers materials needed each camp day unless “Additional Fees” are listed. 


Additional Fees: Some Art Camp workshops may require 'Additional Fees' that participants are required to pay the day before the workshop. Please see the 'Additional Fee” column below for tentative fees and payment dates.


Al La Carte Price: Pricing designed for teens who are not registered for the camp but would like to participate in a particular workshop. If “n/a” is listed in the ‘Al La Carte’ column, this means it is not an option for non-registered Teens to participate. If a price is listed in the “Al La Carte " column, it means a non-registered teen can participate by paying the listed price.  Approval needed.



Camp Guidelines

  • There is no transportation provided. This includes daily commuting to and from the Studio and field trips. Parents/ Guardians must make all transportation arrangement. (Example: On Thursday, July 4, 2019, Workshop Participants will meet at the Sacramento Zoo to participant in a photo walk. Arrangements for drop off and pickup are the responsibility of the participant's Parents/Guardians.
  • For Workshops that require a Camera or Laptop, participants must bring their own camera or laptop, cell phones are not permitted.
  • Ebony London Art Studio will open its doors daily at 9:00 am. Participants are expected to be present and ready for the day’s activities at 9:15 am.
  • A light breakfast will be served daily at 9:00 am.

Registration and rules
  • Once confirmation of registration is received, a package will be emailed that includes a Contact form, Medical form and Terms & Conditions form. These documents must be signed and returned to Ebony London Art Studio on or prior to June 14, 2019.
  • An email will be sent a few days prior to the first day of Summer Art Camp. The email will include the final six-week schedule of workshops and what to expect on the first day of Summer Art Camp. 
  • Payment for Summer Art Camp is non-refundable but is transferable to another teen.
  • Minimum age is 13 years old. Maximum age is 17 years old.

Photo walk – We will walk to Sutter's Landing Regional Park. (Approximately 20 minutes from ELAS) We will take photos while walking along the American River. During the photo walk we will visit Sutter's Landing Skate Board park & Dog park. Participants must provide their own camera. Cell phone cameras are not permitted.

Poetry – After a brief overview of poetry as an art form, each participant will choose a topic and spend time writing a poem. The participants will then perform their poem aloud.

Pottery – We will meet at (location Pending) and participate in the introduction to pottery class. The instructor will walk us through a detailed step by step wheel demonstration. Then we will be guided through some basic sculpting/hand building techniques. Once the demonstrations are complete, the studio, tools, and equipment is ours to use and the instructor is available for assistance along the way. Creating with clay is a process in which requires 1 to 2 kiln firings and because of this, participants will not take their finished pieces home this same day.

Tie Dye – Each participant will bring their own dyable garments. After brief instructions, each participant will spend time tie dying their garments.

Creative Writing - After a brief introduction to creative writing, participants will spend time creating a short story. The focus will be on main character development and a adventurous story line. The participants will then share their stories aloud.

Acting – We will meet at (location Pending) and take a guided tour of the theater. We will spend time learning about acting as an art form. We will also spend time practicing our acting on stage, playing our random movie scenes!

Murals – We will tour the Midtown & Downtown area (walking), visiting popular mural sites. A Professional Muralist will teach about the process of creating a mural.

 Daily:

* Fine Art – On the first day of camp, the participants will be given a 16 in w x 20 in l canvas. They will spend time drawing, in detail, what they will spend the next six weeks of Art camp, painting. Each day, they will spend the first 15 - 35 minutes painting


Allowing the participants to work on the painting daily, instead of completing it in one or two session, will teach creative planning, patience and mental & physical creative consistency. During the last week of camp, each participant’s completed painting will be on display.
